On Thursday, January 30, the government rejected, through the voice of its Minister of Labor Mr. Pénicaud, the private member's bill from deputy Guy Bricout, driven by Pascaline Meyer (Lucie's smile) with the support of Corinne Vedrenne, president Eva for life. This aimed to extend the number of days of paid leave from 5 to 12 days following the death of a child. Reason given: this extension would penalize companies. This rejection has aroused the indignation of families but also millions of people, the major national and international media, but also the political class. President Macron having asked his government to show humanity and react quickly, Eva pour la vie was invited by Secretary of State Mr. Taquet and Ms. Pénicaud to a consultation on Tuesday, February 4.
Remember: on February 28, Corinne (Eva's mother and president of Eva pour la vie) called on Emmanuel Macron on the issue of pediatric cancers. This Wednesday, she went to the Elysee Palace, accompanied by Drs Grosset, Quurez and Stéphanie Ville, president of Grandir sans Cancer, in order to develop observations and needs on the following subjects ...
The co-founder of Eva pour la vie spoke at the press conference of François Ruffin, who presented a bill guaranteeing a public death benefit to any parent of a deceased child, whatever the cause. On the same model of what already exists, paid by the CPAM, for the spouses of deceased salaried adults (3450 €). But that excludes, to date, minors.
On Wednesday May 15, 2019, the deputy of Hauts-de-Seine and quaestor Laurianne Rossi, as well as the deputy of Gironde Benoît Simian organized, with the Federation Grandir Sans Cancer, of which the association Eva pour la vie is co-founder, a conference on the fight against cancer and incurable pediatric diseases. A strong and unprecedented step in the National Assembly.
In 2019, the Eva pour la vie team remains mobilized to accelerate the fight against childhood cancer and help families. If our parliamentary struggle continues, we support all year round the families of sick or deceased children, as well as ambitious research projects. Thanks to your donations, we are presenting an ADDITIONAL CALL FOR PROJECTS, in the amount of 150,000 euros.
The president of the association Eva pour la vie, intervened in the framework of the great national debate in Bordeaux. She spoke, in a nice speech to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, and Marlène Schiappa, the problems of oncopediatric research, the non-financial support of "last chance" treatments outside of the Europe (unlike Italy or Germany), inadequate support for families (especially in the event of death) and the quality of care and support for sick children, which varies considerably from one establishment to another.
Stéphane Vedrenne, Steeve de Matos and Pascaline Meyer, accompanied by a courageous mother, Sonia, as well as researchers went to a press conference by deputy Jean-Christophe Lagarde, within the National Assembly, on the fight against childhood cancers.
Stéphane Vedrenne, co-founder of Eva pour la vie and Stéphanie Ville, president of Aidons Marina were invited to a substantive meeting at the National Cancer Institute dealing with research on pediatric cancers, in the presence of other associations (league, bow, unapecle, childhood and cancers, sfce, Laurette Fugain, Imagine for Margo).
A meeting of free exchanges, sometimes very frank but healthy clarifications. The current dynamic at the financial level (5 million euros / year recently allocated to research on pediatric cancers, knowing that the objective remains to increase this amount and include it in the LOI) and even, mentalities seems to be going in the right direction, although we remain vigilant. In January 2019, we will submit a detailed dossier of detailed recommendations, worked out in partnership with the associations of the Grandir Sans Cancer federation, as well as the scientific community involved in pediatric cancer research.
You can count on us to carry out all possible actions to accelerate research on pediatric cancers, and that families be helped with dignity.
On Wednesday May 16, the deputy of Gironde Benoît Simian organized, with the Federation Grandir Sans Cancer, of which the Eva pour la vie association is co-founder, a conference on the fight against cancer and incurable pediatric diseases. A first for the National Assembly.
This February 15, for the attention of the International Childhood Cancer Day, a very nice report from Arte on pediatric cancers. And on the Growing Up Without Cancer federation, of which Eva pour la vie is a co-founder. Public generosity is today the main mode of support for research on pediatric cancer. This is insufficient when we know that the French State has the means to act, for children, for families.
