Childhood cancers: our proposals heard by MEPs - 01 sept. 2020

After several advances, we are continuing to work with parliamentarians - and Grandir Sans Cancer - on subjects for which progress remains to be made: strengthening the fund dedicated to pediatric cancer research, improving the AJPP, creation of a protected parent status, improvement of care and the gift of life. We sent a detailed file to all elected officials. Several meetings are organized.


Our proposals relate in particular to the following points :

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON CHILDHOOD CANCERS
- MORE MEANS:
gradually increase the dedicated fund from 5 to 15 M € / year (+ 10 M €), both to improve the search for treatments and for prevention, recognized as insufficient
- MORE STABILITY:
include it in law to ensure its sustainability
- MORE TRANSPARENCY:
facilitate the monitoring of expenditure by elected officials and associations

ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES THROUGH THE STATE OF SICK CHILDREN OR VICTIMS OF A LIFE ACCIDENT
- BETTER PROTECT
Creation of the status of protected parent in the face of dismissal, creditors (mortgage,
rent, taxes, etc.) which would prohibit the eviction or seizure of movable and immovable property
of primary need of the families concerned
- ACCELERATE & SIMPLIFY ACCESS TO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
• Reduce the administration response time to 48 hours
• AJPP: remove the double lock 310 days over 3 years
• Reimbursement of all effective therapies (including abroad)

THE GIFT OF LIFE
- NATIONAL EDUCATION
Include awareness of the gifts of life in the students' curriculum,
from CP to BAC, (blood, platelets, bone marrow)
MEDIA, TV, RADIO, PRESS, WEB
• Create a sustainable information campaign during prime time
• Ensure that the EFS has the necessary means to react quickly
facing potential donors.
