The representatives of the Eva Pour la Vie association and the Cassandra Association, accompanied by Doctor Marie CASTETS, researcher at the Cancer Research Center of Lyon, had an appointment at the Ministry of Research with Isabelle RICHARD, health advisor at the cabinet of the Minister.

The associations recalled that 500 children die of cancer each year in France, a figure that has not declined for fifteen years. They supported the need to enshrine in law the creation of dedicated funding for research on childhood cancer, in order to allow researchers to have sufficient and lasting means to initiate and carry out their studies. works. The amendment recently defended by the deputy Benoit SIMIAN was mentioned.

Isabelle RICHARD listened to the discourse given by associations and researchers. It encouraged researchers to form networks for better data exchange, and to benefit from additional funding.

She also encouraged associations fighting against childhood cancer to join forces to gain more weight in the face of decision-makers. Recommendation that we will soon discuss with associations, which are part of the continuity of unifying actions such as the manifesto “Growing up without cancer” signed to date by more than 60 associations and 100 healthcare professionals.
