Un texte modifié par les sénateurs, qui apporte quelques avancées complémentaires utiles aux familles.

Le fonds alloué à la recherche sur les cancers pédiatriques porté à 20M€/an

C'est une victoire pour la recherche sur les cancers de l'enfant, obtenue grâce à la mobilisation d'Eva pour la vie et de la fédération Grandir Sans Cancer : le ministre de la recherche Philippe Baptiste nous confirme qu'à partir de 2026, les 2 ministères (santé et recherche) flécheront 10M€ chacun par an, soit 20M€/an en tout à la recherche contre ces maladies, au lieu des 5M€/an alloués depuis fin 2018. Une avancée majeure, issue d'un long combat.

Research, treatments and support: our hopes for 2026

Following our discussions, the Minister of Research, the members of parliament and the senators made commitments: to increase the fund dedicated to research on pediatric cancers to €20 million/year from 2026, to debate in the Senate (with a view to effective implementation) the bill proposed by Vincent Thiébaut aimed at better supporting families of sick children by the end of February, and finally to debate the bill proposed by Marie Récalde (after a missed appointment on December 11) which aims to promote the development of start-ups for drugs against cancers and rare diseases in children.

Loi médicaments pédiatriques de Marie Récalde : votée en commission, débat avorté le 11 décembre

La proposition de loi de Marie Récalde, qui vise à créer un fonds d'investissement pour accélérer le développement des médicaments pédiatriques contre les cancers et les maladies rares de l'enfant, a été débattue en commission des affaires sociales le 3 décembre, avec un vote favorable de celle-ci. Elle devait être débattue le 11 décembre prochain à l'Assemblée nationale, au sein de l'hémicycle, dans le cadre de la niche socialiste, mais son mauvais classement décidé par le groupe (en 7ème position) a conduit à ce qu'elle ne puisse être examinée que pendant moins de 5 minutes (entre 23h55 et minuit) rendant le débat et son vote impossible. Un véritable choc pour les associations et les familles, qui demandent un réexamen début 2026.

€20 million allocated in 2025 to research on childhood cancers: but what happens after that?

At the end of October 2024, as part of the 2025 budget bill, an amendment co-authored by Eva for Life and members of parliament aimed at supporting clinical research on pediatric cancers—that is, research conducted at the bedside of young patients—was passed in the National Assembly. Government censure blocked the debate. Unanimous debate in the Senate secured an additional €15 million, bringing the total to €20 million for 2025. But what about the following years, given that research needs a certain degree of stability?

Pediatric medications: Marie Récalde's proposed law

Working with Eva for Life and the Growing Up Without Cancer federation, Marie Récalded has submitted a bill to establish a €70 million/year investment fund to support the development of pediatric drug startups focused on serious childhood illnesses, such as cancer. Researchers, doctors, associations, and families welcome this initiative. We hope that this bill—co-signed across party lines by numerous members of parliament and also supported by senators—will be debated as soon as possible.

8th Symposium on Pediatric Cancers at the National Assembly: Prevention, Cure, Support

As part of a strong mobilization uniting numerous parliamentarians, professionals (doctors, researchers, social workers, etc.), associations, and families around the issue of combating childhood cancers, serious illnesses, and disabilities, Vincent Thiébaut (Member of Parliament for Bas-Rhin) organized a symposium on Wednesday, June 4th, at the National Assembly throughout the afternoon, in partnership with the Grandir sans cancer (Growing Up Without Cancer) Federation and Eva pour la vie (Eva for Life). This unique event, held within the Palais Bourbon (Colbert Room), addressed the needs of numerous associations, professionals, families, and parliamentarians, with roundtables designed to foster discussion.

Vote for Vincent Thiébaut's PPL - families of sick and disabled children

The proposal by MP Vincent Thiébaut, co-constructed with Eva pour la vie & Grandir Sans Cancer, aimed at optimizing the protection and support of parents of children with cancer, serious illnesses and disabilities was voted unanimously in the National Assembly on December 3, 2024. While most of the initial measures were voted, it suffered the deletion of an article that concerned young owners, but benefited from additional advances through amendments. Our platform brings together 130 deputies, associations and professionals

Published in the daily newspaper Libération, the column "Let's mobilize to the end to treat pediatric cancers!" written by Eva pour la vie & the Grandir Sans Cancer Federation raises awareness among public authorities of the need to increase the fund dedicated to research into childhood cancers from €5 to €25 million/year, in order to include clinical research. In addition, the co-signatories are calling for the creation of an investment fund to enable the development of pediatric drug startups, or a public drug establishment, prioritizing cancers and pathologies with poor prognosis in children.

New bill for families of seriously ill children

Housing, employment...: new protections for families of sick children

A new victory resulting from joint work! Paul Christophe's bill, designed with Eva pour la vie and Grandir Sans Cancer, aimed at strengthening the protection of families of children suffering from a serious illness has been definitively adopted, after being enriched by the Senate. It brings significant progress for families in terms of employment, housing and the AJPP. It also extends the leave for announcing and bereavement of a child and sets up an experiment with the CAF to greatly simplify the lives of the families concerned.

Cancers: forgotten children? This is the theme of the program "Débats docs" broadcast this Wednesday, March 22 at 8:30 p.m. on LCP.
